Since qualifying as a Nursery Nurse/Nanny in July 1993, I have been employed in a variety of Child-Care settings and have gained a wealth of experience and knowledge. These include: Private Nannying, Nannying for Holiday Companies locally and abroad, learning support, and Supply for After School Clubs, Pre-Schools, Schools, and Nurseries. As a Nanny I have cared for children aged from 8 months up to 9 years. Working for Holiday Companies the age range is wider and there are clubs run for children from 3 months up to 16 years. My role as Learning Support was to assist the Yr 1 teacher in all aspects of the school day as well as assisting in other class when required. The pupils in Yr 1 were aged 5 and 6 years. I also had my own group of 6 S.E.N children to work with. I did some curriculum planning and prepared activities in line with the National Curriculum for the class and for the S.E.N group. Duchy Nannies was established in October of 2000. As a Nanny Agency Proprietor and Early Years NVQ Assessor and Lecturer I have gained excellent record keeping, listening and communication skills. My organization and leadership skills have improved greatly also. I have a good knowledge of Child-Care regulations and legal obligations. My past role as Registered provider/Play-Leader of an After School Club also required me to be the following: Designated member of staff for Child Protection and Designated person responsible for day to day provision of education and play for children with Special Needs. For this role I also had to compile a portfolio of Policies, and ensure that all staff worked in accordance with these: Access/Booking/No Smoking/Health and Safety/Risk Assessment/Activities/Staff/Equal Opportunities/Administration/ Recruitment/Complaints/Behaviour management/Confidentiality/Child Protection/Outdoor Play/Special needs. I am now self employed as a Temp Nanny and Maternitiy Nurse and am also able to provide shorter term trouble shooting consultation services. |
